Tamil Nadu People Welfare Association (TAPWA) is a non profit and non political voluntary organization registered on 16th August, 1988 under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975 (No.110 / 88 dated 16.8.1988). It is functioning in the districts of Dindigul, Madurai and Theni with head quarters at Pallapatti, Nilakottai Taluk, Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, India. TAPWA is having FCRA status (No.075990044 dated 10.3.1992) and the association is exempted from Income Tax under 12 A and 80 G of Income Tax Act of Government of India (C. No. 464 / 10 / 98-99 dated 25.4.2000).
TAPWA endures to serve the marginalized people especially formation of women self help groups (SHGs), creating and providing self-employment opportunities for the women SHGs, establishing linkage between women SHGs and financial institutions for sustainability, providing free shelter for homeless, orphanage for children, education, implementing awareness generation trainings, etc. It is also conducting health education camps in its service villages. TAPWA has implemented a number of environmental and economical development programs to safeguard the ecological balance too.

Star Achiever Award 2008
TAPWA, for its relentless efforts, was adjudged as the winner of STAR Achiever Award during 40th year celebrations of National Integrity Cultural Academy, Chennai on 19th October 2008. The recognition included a Gold Medal and appreciation certificate.
